An unlikely sound of noisy, fuzzy, psychedelic pop is emerging from New Orleans. NPR described Rotary Downs as "a stunning collection of psychedelic art pop that plays like a brilliant mash up of Neutral Milk Hotel and Odelay-era Beck." Rotary Downs is bursting out of their New Orleans scene after having been named “Best Rock Band” in the Gambit Weekly and #2 of the “Best Unknown Bands of 2007” by NPR. The band recently had their TV debut on the Sundance Channel, played their 2nd year at the New Orleans Jazz Fest, SXSW, Bonnaroo, the High Sierra Music Fest and the the Voodoo Music Experience.
