Where does the story come together for a documentary – during production or during the editing process?
Dixon McDowell teaches film production within the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern Mississippi. Recently, 3 students collaborated on shooting one short documentary. In the end, they each edited their own version of the film. Watch 2 versions of the film Bible-Belted and participate in an in-depth discussion led by Dixon McDowell about the creative editing decisions the filmmakers employed and how stories are altered while still maintaining the integrity of the original subject at hand. “Bible-Belted” films directed by Corey Hart and Matthew Gospodinovich.
